The resource I have developed is an infographic to model to Year 5/6 students ways in which they may “Acquire, store and validate different types of data, and use a range of software to interpret and visualise data to create information (ACTDIP016)” (ACARA, 2015).
I have chosen to share this resource via a website to ensure ease of use for the teacher and ease of access for the students. This website would also work on students iPads and would easily be projected onto the interactive whiteboard to further assist the teacher in implementing the lesson.
It is envisaged that this infographic will be shown to students at the beginning of the unit to give them an understanding of the different ways data may be displayed. From this, students will create and conduct their own survey and use www.piktograph.com to display the data they collect.
Once students have created their infographic they will “Examine the main components of common digital systems and how they may connect together to form networks to transmit data (ACTDIK014)” (ACARA, 2015). This will be done by exploring the ways the infographic may be shared within a network of their peers using a variety of technologies.
Students will also complete a review of their peers infographics and the information being shared in it.
